Lee Jong-suk is a prominent South Korean actor and model, born on September 14, 1989, in Yongin, South Korea. He majored in Professional Motion Pictures and Art at Konkuk University, graduating in 2016. His career began at the young age of 15, when he debuted as a runway model at the Seoul Collection in 2005, becoming the youngest male model to participate in Seoul Fashion Week. He initially trained to be an idol group member but transitioned to acting after his agency failed to uphold its promise.
His official acting debut came in 2010 with the South Korean TV series Prosecutor Princess. Lee Jong-suk gained significant recognition through his supporting role in Secret Garden (2011) and achieved breakthrough success with the teen drama School 2013 (2012), for which he earned his first acting award as Best New Actor at the 2012 KBS Drama Awards. His popularity further soared with critically acclaimed roles in I Can Hear Your Voice (2013), Doctor Stranger (2014), Pinocchio (2014), W (2016), While You Were Sleeping (2017), and Big Mouth (2022).
Lee Jong-suk completed his mandatory military service, enlisting in March 2019 and being discharged in January 2021. Throughout his career, he has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Male Top Excellence Award at the 8th Korea Drama Awards and the Best Actor award at the 27th Grimae Awards. He has also been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for Korean tourism.
After stints with various agencies, including YG Entertainment and his own A-man Project, Lee Jong-suk signed with Ace Factory on January 3, 2024. In his personal life, he has been in a publicly confirmed relationship with singer-songwriter and actress IU since 2022. He is also slated to appear in upcoming dramas such as Law and the City (2025) and Iseop’s Romance (TBA / 2027).
