The Isle

A silent woman and a desperate fugitive find each other on a remote lake. Hee-jin runs a small fishing resort made up of floating huts. She sells food, bait, and other supplies to visiting fishermen. She also provides sex to some customers when they ask. One day, Hyun-shik arrives at the resort to hide from the police. He is a former police officer who killed his lover after discovering her affair. Haunted by what he has done, he tries to kill himself with a gun. Hee-jin notices him and stops the attempt shockingly. From that moment, she takes a strange interest in the troubled man.
Hyun-shik soon becomes trapped between fear, guilt, and his growing feelings. Police officers eventually arrive at the fishing resort while searching for him. The pressure pushes him toward another desperate attempt to end his life. He swallows fishing hooks, but Hee-jin finds him and saves him again. Their bond grows through physical closeness rather than normal conversation. Hyun-shik also spends time with a prostitute who visits his floating cabin. Hee-jin becomes jealous when she sees their connection getting stronger. Her jealousy turns dangerous, and she takes the woman away to an empty cabin. The situation ends with the prostitute drowning, while Hee-jin later hides her body underwater.
The trouble does not stop there. The prostitute’s pimp arrives looking for her and clashes with Hyun-shik. During the struggle, he falls into the water and is killed by Hee-jin. Hyun-shik then wants to leave the fishing resort, but Hee-jin refuses to let him go. He tries to escape by swimming away, only for her to bring him back. Later, Hee-jin makes a desperate attempt to keep him from leaving. Hyun-shik saves her, and their damaged bond pulls them together again. When divers eventually discover the hidden bodies, the danger around them becomes impossible to ignore. The film ends with the pair leaving the resort together, their future left uncertain.
