The Scandal

Lady Cho has a taste for secret affairs, and she rarely hides it. She is married, but her marriage does not stop her games. Her cousin Jo-won is much like her and enjoys the same kind of trouble. One day, Lady Cho gives him an unusual challenge. She wants him to seduce So-ok, a young woman recently taken as a concubine. Jo-won agrees, seeing it as another easy victory. He soon meets Lady Sook, a wealthy widow who has lived alone for years. Unlike the women he usually pursues, she has no interest in romance. Her strong faith and quiet nature make her difficult to approach.
Jo-won becomes curious about Lady Sook and starts pursuing her seriously. At first, he treats the relationship like a game. His feelings change as they spend more time together. Lady Cho notices this and becomes uneasy about losing control of their little contest. She also has feelings for Jo-won that she never openly admits. Meanwhile, Lady Sook begins lowering her guard despite her promise to remain faithful to her late husband. Jo-won eventually gets close to her, but the affair is no longer simple for either of them. What started as a wager now involves real emotions, jealousy, and betrayal.
Lady Sook finds out why Jo-won came after her in the first place. She learns that Lady Cho had challenged him to win her over. Feeling betrayed, she wants nothing more to do with him. Jo-won is already in love with her by then. He knows an apology cannot undo what he has done. Lady Cho also realizes that her little game has gone too far. The fun and teasing between them has turned into something much darker. Jo-won has to face the pain he caused and the love he may lose. What began as a simple wager leaves all three of them facing serious consequences.
