Four Hands Two Sonatas

Kang Bi-O strives to surpass her limits every day with the dream of becoming perfect in the world of music. As the best piano student at Korea Arts High School, she works hard to always be the first not only in her studies but also in her performance. Known as a talent with the potential to win major piano competitions in the world in the future, Bi-O’s arranged life suddenly changes when the extraordinarily talented Choi Jeong-Yo joins the school as a transfer student.

Jeong-Yo’s talent was not developed through regular training like Bi-O’s. Due to a difficult childhood and family situation, he kept his talent away from the piano. The love that had been awakened in him when he saw Bi-O’s performance in a piano competition as a child, he finds himself back in front of the same boy years later. When Jeong-Yo returns to the piano after arriving at a new school, the two talented pianists with different personalities begin a friendship, rivalry, and a strange attraction to surpass each other.

Their musical journey is joined by Hong Jae-In, a talented viola major and close friend of Bi-O. Playing the same piano together, Bi-O and Jeong-Yo develop a wonderful musical chemistry. But when their talents are compared and the pressure on Bi-O to be the best increases, friendship is gradually replaced by insecurity, rivalry, and distance.

Their relationship changes repeatedly as they move from adolescence to adulthood and eventually become professional pianists. Four Hands, Two Sonatas is not just a story of two pianists competing; it is an emotional coming-of-age journey of passion, friendship, first love, family pressure, and acceptance of one’s own talent.
