Song Joong-ki is a highly acclaimed South Korean actor. Born on September 19, 1985, in Daejeon, South Korea, he pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration at Sungkyunkwan University. Prior to his acting career, Song Joong-ki was a talented short track speed skater, representing his hometown at a national level before an injury led him to pursue other paths.
He made his acting debut in the 2008 period film A Frozen Flower. His early career saw him gain recognition through the historical drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010) and as a cast member on the variety show Running Man (2010–2011). Song Joong-ki enlisted for his mandatory military service on August 27, 2013, and was discharged on May 26, 2015.
Throughout his career, Song Joong-ki has received numerous accolades, including being named Gallup Korea’s Television Actor of the Year in both 2012 and 2017. He has also been featured multiple times in Forbes Korea’s Power Celebrity 40 list. His notable works include the television series Descendants of the Sun (2016), Vincenzo (2021), and Reborn Rich (2022), as well as films like A Werewolf Boy (2012) and Space Sweepers (2021).
He was previously married to actress Song Hye-kyo from 2017 to 2019. In 2023, he married Katy Louise Saunders, and they welcomed their first child. As of January 2024, Song Joong-ki is signed with Ace Factory, following his tenure with HighZium Studio.
