Plot

Kang I-ji has always put her career before love. As deputy manager in the legal team at Chronic Motors she’s a very capable woman, known for her intelligence and work ethic. She firmly believes that hard work is more important than emotion. Dating and marriage have never been on her radar at all. To her love is just a matter of hormones. She’s all for facts, rules and clear answers rather than the complicated business of feeling. Her carefully laid out life begins to fall apart when she meets Han Seon-woo, a new intern in her department. Their first meeting doesn’t go well at all and quickly devolves into an awkward situation. Neither of them thought they’d be running into each other so soon.
Han Seon-woo is a world away from his new senior colleague. He’s a very kind, considerate and warm person. He’s joining Chronic Motors as an intern but has a law background and is very much into jewellery design. His quick judgement and sense of responsibility quickly wins him the confidence of his colleagues. He gradually begins to get past I-ji’s rather cold professional exterior through working with her. His genuine nature and straightforwardness bring a real warmth to her otherwise very busy life. Park Hyun-tae is the new division head at Chronic Motors Korea and is a very impressive man. He recognises I-ji’s talents and respects her professional ability. His arrival adds another dimension to the changing dynamic of I-ji’s working life.
As the days go by I-ji is confronted with feelings she once thought she was past. Her bond with Seon-woo develops through the little things at work. Hyun-tae’s attentions also make her re-evaluate what she wants. There’s the pressure of work, the pressure of personal choice and the burgeoning affection and she starts to question her old assumptions. She starts to wonder what success and what happiness actually is. Nine to Six is the story of three adults as they go through life, love and the pressures of work and expectation. It’s a story about whether you have to go by the book in order to be happy.
