Plot
Upon awakening from a prolonged comatose state, Rong Le is confronted with a complete absence of autobiographical memory and is informed of her identity as Princess Rong Le of Western Qi. Her immediate obligation is to enter into a politically motivated marriage with Zongzheng Wu You, a prince of Northern Lin, who, however, rejects the alliance and denies her entry into his household. Deprived of the possibility of returning to her native state, Rong Le adopts the pseudonym Man Yao and establishes herself in Northern Lin, where she operates a tea house while simultaneously undertaking a covert search for a lost Qin family manuscript. This quest serves as the catalyst for her increasing proximity to Wu You, who, unaware of her true identity, develops a growing emotional attachment to Man Yao, a sentiment that is reciprocated prior to the eventual revelation of her origins.
The trajectory of their relationship is fundamentally altered when Rong Le receives the imperial command to marry General Fu Chou. In an effort to safeguard her own interests, she consents to a marriage of convenience, fully aware of its strategic nature. Wu You subsequently uncovers the dual identity of Man Yao and Rong Le, yet by this juncture, their mutual affection has become deeply entangled within a web of political machinations and longstanding animosities. Notably, General Fu Chou, initially motivated by a desire for retribution, develops authentic emotional ties to Rong Le. The subsequent revelation that Fu Chou is intricately connected to Wu You’s lineage, coupled with the emergence of previously concealed aspects of Rong Le’s own history, further complicates the evolving dynamics among the principal figures.
Ultimately, Rong Le uncovers that her original identity is Qin Man, her amnesia the consequence of deliberate erasure orchestrated within the context of a royal conspiracy. She comes to understand that Fu Yuan, driven by protracted resentment and a quest for vengeance, has systematically shaped Fu Chou’s character and actions over many years. The convergence of these personal and political conflicts precipitates a climactic confrontation involving Wu You, Rong Le, and Fu Chou. In the ensuing struggle, Rong Qi sacrifices his life to dismantle the underlying conspiracy. Fu Chou, having liberated himself from the psychological influence of his mother, meets his demise. Wu You survives these events and is ultimately reunited with Rong Le. In the aftermath, they remain together and are later joined by a son, Ying-Er.
